This office is exceptional from the staff to the doctors. Other eye centers perform as cataract factories: bring them in, send them out and be quick about it, strictly profit oriented. I have seen 3 doctors at East Valley and each experience was perfection in every aspect. I am an RN and I know how to evaluate a practice on every level and this office met every criterion for health standards and professionalism.

All the employees were helpful and know what they are doing. Dr McKee and Anna make sure you are being well cared for. I really appreciated Anna with the help in scheduling the procedures.

My husband was referred here after experiencing pain from an old cornea transplant. Dr. Kao left him in severe and worsening pain for over a year and then tried to suggest the same treatments he’d been doing as if they were new and novel. The one time he did try a new treatment, it failed immediately and no one from their office would return our calls to get some help. They have very limited availability so my husband was taking days off work to be at these appointments and the Dr couldn’t even be bothered to read the chart. We went to another specialist who saw him within a week and had surgery scheduled for him within a month. We couldn’t even get this office to send over medical records. It wasn’t until I called them and made it very clear we weren’t paying for the failed medical procedures and the appointment Kao wasn’t prepared for that anyone bothered to make contact with us and apologize. If you want a Dr and staff who couldn’t care less about your pain and your time and who think that having a few letters behind their name makes their time more valuable than theirs, this is the place for you. If you want treatment and a staff with even a modicum of professionalism, look elsewhere for treatment.

I called to schedule an appointment recently, and the person handling the scheduling was immediately rude and condescending. It wasn't just the words she used, but also her tone and audible frustration when I struggled to pronounce medical procedures correctly. I honestly don't know what procedure I need, and that was the whole reason I needed a consultation – to explain my problem and have them suggest a procedure to help. It makes me wonder if this is the first contact that patients have to deal with, how many others just go somewhere else.

I went here in April because my vision in my left eye was worsening and I wanted to know if it was related to my neurological condition. The doctor didn’t know and he said that my current prescription was actually overcorrecting my eyesight. Well I didn’t think that seemed right since I’d been wearing the same script for like 5 years with no problem until it recently became harder to see. I ordered glasses with that prescription and sure enough, I could see even less. I waited for over an hour to get a WORSE prescription. It was a huge waste of time. Shortly after this I found out I have a cranial pressure issue that often causes worsening vision due to pressure on the ocular nerve. The exact thing I went to this doc to check for that he said nothing about… Terrible experience and now I have to start completely over somewhere else since this was a complete waste.
