Janice Pierce, O.D., attended the University of North Dakota. Graduating magna cum laude, Dr. Pierce received her BS in biology with a focus on pre-health sciences. Following her undergraduate studies, she received her optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry where she graduated with distinction. Next, Dr. Pierce completed a residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics.
Dr. Pierce has been a member of the excellent team of eye care specialists at Swagel Wootton Eye Institute since 2014. She provides comprehensive eye care services to patients, including ocular disease management and contact lenses. Dr. Pierce also provides pre and post-operative co-management and is an active member of both the American Academy of Optometry and the Arizona Optometric Association.
When Dr. Pierce is not treating patients, she enjoys various recreational activities including hiking, cooking, and kayaking.

Doug White5 StarDr. Pierce is very pleasant and courteous. She filled me in on the fact that the eye drops may feel gritty when used and said my healing from cataract surgery is doing very well. The entire office is very friendly and caring. The entire process of my follow up visit was complete within 15 min. I highly recommend this office for any eye procedure.Wednesday 13th March 2024
james webb5 StarAs this was my fist visit here, I was a little tense. I was referred here by a friend who held them to high regard, and when I went with him to one visit, I was very impressed by the location, staff, and efficiency of the facility.
I work in healthcare and I was able to look at the operational order with differing perspectives.
The staff, very professional and friendly, kept patients comfortable with conversation but ensured they kept cadence with their appointment.
The Optometrist were very comfortable to converse with and effective in their assessments and planning strategies. Dr. J. Pierce performed a comfortable exam, and took my input regarding my needs was able to suggest a good care plan and developed a good eye care plan.
Considering that this was my first real exam since the early 1980's, I was pleasantly surprised by the good news she had to offer.Thursday 18th January 2024
Bo Wint5 StarThere was a bit of a wait but being my first visit, I am thinking there could have been an emergency. Once I was called the appt moved forward smoothly. Everyone, from the front desk to the technician, and to the Dr was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable.Dr Pierce was also open to any questions and I didn’t feel hurried.
