Tyra Chrisman5 StarI have had the best experience getting new glasses from them recently. I had to update my prescription after 10 years in my glasses and they always offer a fair price. I always expect my glasses to be very expensive because they are high index and I have an astigmatism in both eyes, but Costco Optical still gave me a good price.
They were patient and kind when I spent an hour looking at frames, as well as when I came to pick up my new glasses and something wasn't quite right when I them on. No real fault to them, my prescription is just very particular in the sense that the frames have to be specific and I didn't choose the right ones. But alas, they came up with a solution where I could keep the frames and tweak the prescription to make it work for me. For that, I am so happy. They are the best for your optical needs.Tuesday 16th January 2024
Bridgette Miller1 StarI decided to give this Dr. and optical center a try because we have been Costco members for years. My daughter’s glasses we bothering her and at the age of 50, things were starting to get a little blurry up close. I just threw away $700.00!!!
To start with, the exam was a joke. The tech started with complaining to her coworker about how the machine she was getting ready to use on me kept erroring out and did she know how to reset it. She did not yet it was used anyway.
The Dr. was nice enough but while testing for vision clarity, didn’t bother giving any indication at the range of vision she was testing for. Simply clicked through three lenses asking which one was clearer and then wrote a prescription. My daughter had the same experience.
A week later I go to pick up our glasses and they are useless. Even though I originally complained about things being slightly blurry up close, this Dr. decided I needed to be able to read signs that were 500 feet away. Essentially writing a prescription for binoculars.
Of course the staff got incredibly rude when I asked what was going on with the glasses because I didn’t come in complaining about not beings able to read signs across a football field. Their response, we told you the prescription was for distance only! This prescription was so bad, it shrunk everything by 25% making everything look miniaturized, depth perception was gone, and everything within my functioning 5ft-25ft field of vision was shot. They told me I would have to get used to it.
My daughters glasses, same story. After spending 20+ minutes finding frames that fit her face, we purchase them. I bring hers home, she puts on her glasses, not surprised now, the glasses won’t stay on her face, completely falling off. I call the optical center and I get the response, of course they’re not the same glasses you selected.
Do yourself a favor, go to a real vision center. This place is horrible.Thursday 20th September 2018
Michael Ball1 StarUsually Costco is nothing but positive, but, the ladies at this optical department are pushy and condescending! I was a first time prescription buyer and ended up with one pair that was fine, but another pair that I'm sure had a manufacturing defect that makes the glasses difficult to wear. I tried to explain this out a couple weeks after purchase but was treated as if I just didn't understand and that they would get better. Well it's over a year later and the glasses purchased are basically worthless. This is a HORRIBLE optical department! My worst costco experience ever.Monday 17th May 2021
Seth Wong1 StarGot my eyes exam two weeks ago and surprised to see my SPH improved from +3.75 to PL. I did not realize that until I got the new lens on my new glasses and I immediately contact the Optical dpt to see if I can reschedule and pay for another eye exam. A lady called Ariel did not believe there is anything wrong with the eye exam, claimed that I was in the process of adjusting to the new glasses, it has nothing to do with the eye exam and refuse for rescheduling. Very rude and not willing to help at all. I switch back to my old glasses and everything seems back to normal again. Seriously this is my worst experience with Costco from the pass 20+ years. The whole conversation makes me feel like I been talking to someone who hates her job but force to work there. I still don't understand why rescheduling an eye exam would be that hard.Wednesday 27th November 2019
Jacob Frantz5 StarExcellent optometrist, they were running slightly late when I went but were willing to stay after business hours in order to finish their appointment. He ended up being quick and efficient enough that it wasn't even necessary though. My prescription is generally a bit tricky and have gotten a few duds before, but they place did a great job.Sunday 6th November 2016
